At eighty-eight years old and with only a high school education, Bobbie Ledgerwood has accomplished her lifetime dream of becoming a bona-fide author. Her story reveals life in rural southeast Kansas and Colorado from 1924 through 2011. Her dad was rough; her mother was tough. The "secrets" are not actual secrets--they are experiences, thoughts, occasions, and incidents during her lifetime that her children and others might not have known or understood about her. By sharing her stories, she hopes to inspire and encourage others to write their own stories and share them with those they love.

I was amazed at how interesting this book was. It describes the life and times of this now 89-year old woman in such detail that I felt like I was experiencing it with her! I was shocked at the frugality necessary to survive some of those hard times. The lady who saved the thread she used to baste a hem, rewinding it on her spool, made me realize how fortunate we are today, and probably how wasteful. I loved the story on Pg 93 of how Ida and Ernie rented a duplex for a fishing trip in Texas and how Ida went to get Ernie from his bath and indelicately got his attention, only to find it wasn't Ernie. I was sitting, waiting for an oil change when I read it and embarrassingly laughed out loud. Bobbie Ledgerwood is a gifted writer and her book has it all....good story, history, humor, pathos....I loved it.Product details

Secrets of a Cambridge Graduate Barbara Joanne Brown Ledgerwood 9781481013956 Books Reviews
know the author so knew a lot of the people in the book.
It was a wonderful read. We know the author, and it was fascinating to read of her life and adventures.
I liked the first part until her divorce. I did not enjoy reading about her family reunions and trips.
Her childhood was very typical of life in a poor family during the depression.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It gives a full-view, no holes barred, about a real family, their ups and downs, struggles and successes. It shows how precious are the moments we spend with our families and what a blessing the memories are! Would highly recommend this book! Diana M.
